Power Point NETS-T I, II, III
NETS for Students Pp
This is a Power Point presentation that I created as a new way to enhance student learning. In order to create this power point I had to master the use of presentation software to create a piece that was visually pleasing. I used titles, hyperlinks, and many graphics to prepare a presentation on NETS-S. I will be able to use similar presentation software to prepare future visual aids for use in my classroom.

Brock, D.H. (2009).Show Us the Money! Learning & Leading with Technology, 37(1)
The article Show Us the Money! discusses the fact that all students do not have equal opportunities or resources that should be afforded to every student. Not every student has access to technology in their home, so at the very least they should be able to have access to educational technology in the classroom. This particular article discusses how to ask for and present your case for your district and students to receive government funds in order to have access to technology in the classroom for the students you teach.
What is important to realize when asking for funding to support classroom technology?
It is important to remember who you are teaching. What kind of resources do your students have? What SES do they come from, are your students in particular need of receiving extra funds for technological purposes. Do you have evidence showing that the extra funding can really help the students in your classroom demographic? It is also important to realize the way you present your case makes a huge difference in the granting of sparse funds.
What are some examples of research that could aid you in being awarded aid for technology?
A comparison between test scores for those schools who have ample technological resources versus schools who have very little would be a good example to use. Also just an overview of the many ways technology could help in the classroom with creativity and learning through k-12th grades could be very convincing.

Mader, J (2009).Science + Technology = Creativity and Fun. Learning & Leading with Technology, 37(1)
The article Science + Technology= Creativity explores the incorporation of technology with science instruction in order to be in compliance with NETS-S. Many interesting and creative application were discussed one being using microphones to make podcasts detailing their scientific discovery. The article stresses the importance of introducing the many technological tools while eventually letting the students imaginations grow to a point that they will be able to choose which tools they will use in creative ways.
What are the benefits in incorporating digital technologies in subjects such as science?
I think incorporating the use of technology in creative ways can further the understanding of the subject once students become involved in the creative process. Students are getting the opportunity not only to learn the core subject but utilize and expand on their creativity, while learning to utilize different technological methods.
Can Technology be used in this way among even the youngest of students?
I believe even the youngest of students can express creativity through the use of technology with guidance and help. Technology is an excellent teaching tool that even kindergarteners can benefit from. The tasks just have to be age and subject appropriate. Students at this level can also speak into microphones and with the help of the instructor make their own podcasts about their particular subjects.

Bouterse, Corn, and Halstead , (2009).Choosing the Perfect Tools for One to One," . Learning & Leading with Technology, 37(1)
The article Choosing the Perfect Tools for One to One discussed the many consideration in choosing computer systems for use in schools by students. I had really never thought about technology in the classroom to this extent and the article brought up very good points. There are a number of considerations including the durability to withstand use by the student body all the way to ensuring that the staff is educated on how to use and maintain the systems. It is a very difficult and costly decision and if the inappropriate tools are chosen it could spell disaster for students and staff alike.
What is an important consideration when thinking of adding new technologies in the classroom?
In the context of education many districts throughout America do not have the budget and cannot afford the latest in equipment. Cost should be a major consideration when providing students and staff with computers. The initial cost of the equipment is just the first step. You also need systems that are easy to use and maintain because the money may not be there to teach staff on how to properly use and teach the technology. System maintenance staff may also not be available due to budget shortfalls and that is also another major important consideration.
How can the cost of maintenance be controlled when using new computer systems?
After the technology has been chosen and distributed to students, they must be trained properly on how to use and treat such expensive learning tools while getting the most educational value. Teachers must be trained not only on how to operate the systems but on how to teach students to properly operate them.

Richardson, K. W. (2008).Don't Feed the Trolls Using Blogs to Teach Civil Discourse. Learning & Leading with Technology , 35(7)
The article Don’t Feed the Trolls discusses a form of online bullying that is conveyed online over blogs. Technology has come very far over recent years and blogs and public networking sites in general are really great inventions that have been extremely useful. Blogs in particular are a great tool to use in the context of a classroom in which makes it easier for students to communicate with each other and receive input on work that they have completed. The article is very useful in discussing how to prevent students from bullying each other online and it also brings light to the fact that students need to be taught the rules of how to behave appropriately online.
What are other ways to teach children how to behave online?
Online etiquette standards and goals should be taught early on to the youngest students. In Kindergarten students are taught about citizenship and how to interact with their peers, it would be helpful if good citizenship on the web was also taught at this age. It is important to reach students early about how to behave over the internet, especially because children are beginning to utilize the internet at much younger ages.
Should online bullying be taken as seriously as school yard bullying?
I absolutely think that each type of bullying should be treated as equally serious and hurtful offenses. Most schools have zero tolerance policies concerning bullying and that should be extended to commuter use involving education. Parents should also be involved and educated about online civility so they can also monitor and model appropriate web based practices.

iMovie NETS-T III
This is an iMovie I created by editing video clips of Cal State University San Marcos. In working with this program I discovered it will be an excellent tool for my future classroom. I was able to add titles and other graphics along with visual and audio effects to enhance the video. iMovie software has the ability to assist in the conveyance of any lesson plan and also would be a great multimedia project for students.
