Mader, J (2009).Science + Technology = Creativity and Fun. Learning & Leading with Technology, 37(1)
The article Science + Technology= Creativity explores the incorporation of technology with science instruction in order to be in compliance with NETS-S. Many interesting and creative application were discussed one being using microphones to make podcasts detailing their scientific discovery. The article stresses the importance of introducing the many technological tools while eventually letting the students imaginations grow to a point that they will be able to choose which tools they will use in creative ways.
What are the benefits in incorporating digital technologies in subjects such as science?
I think incorporating the use of technology in creative ways can further the understanding of the subject once students become involved in the creative process. Students are getting the opportunity not only to learn the core subject but utilize and expand on their creativity, while learning to utilize different technological methods.
Can Technology be used in this way among even the youngest of students?
I believe even the youngest of students can express creativity through the use of technology with guidance and help. Technology is an excellent teaching tool that even kindergarteners can benefit from. The tasks just have to be age and subject appropriate. Students at this level can also speak into microphones and with the help of the instructor make their own podcasts about their particular subjects.
